Two Rio Americano students have been chosen to exhibit in the top show of student photography in the Sacramento area.
Senior Zoe Overholt and sophomore Eleanor Thornton will each have photos in the show at Viewpoint Photographic Art Center in April.
This year’s theme for the annual show is Barriers and Bridges, which allowed the photographers to take different approaches.
Overholt emphasized the “bridges” part with a photo of three geese flying over the William B. Pond Park footbridge across the American River at sunset. Thornton saw a barrier in a photo of a bit of barbed wire curving out from a country fence.

Both students are enrolled in Introduction to Photography at Rio and took their photos with phone cameras.
The show will be on display at the midtown gallery from April 9-May 3. Viewpoint will stay open till 7 p.m. on April 12 for Second Saturday. There will be a reception for artists and friends 1-4 p.m. on April 13 at which awards will be announced.
The Viewpoint gallery is located at 2015 J St., open Wednesday through Saturday noon to 5 p.m.
