Rio’s AM Jazz band has been selected to attend the prestigious Essentially Ellington festival this year.
The Rio AM Jazz Ensemble will perform at the Essentially Ellington Festival on Friday at about 12:50 p.m. PT. The festival is held at the Lincoln Center in New York City.
This is Rio’s first time attending the event since 2021, though no other high school in California has been selected to attend more times. In February, U.S. Rep. Ami Bera, whose district includes Rio Americano, congratulated the band’s selection for the festival in a speech on the House floor.
