Next Thursday at El Camino, an HBCU fair is planned for juniors and seniors who plan to attend a four-year-college to give them the opportunity to see more options for college.
HBCU stands for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. However, they are open to all students, regardless of race.
“The goal of the fair is to provide students with the opportunity to connect with HBCU representatives to get firsthand knowledge about what the college can offer to that student,” said Rio counselor Sydney Butcher in an email.
The fair takes place on Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the El Camino High School Gymnasium. Students who are interested in attending the event can pick up permission slips from the counseling office.
